Berlin label Mother is well known to house lovers. It has a busy release schedule and a fine roster of artists. Now, in order to evolve and expand, they offer a new series, Mother Knows Best, which is a fine sampler of their freshest artists. It shows the label has a broad and deep roster and features music that is love fuelled and dance floor aligned.
Across all five tracks many styles are covered with equal élan. There is a retro feeling New York styled deep house jam with acid bass and breathy vocals that sounds like a sexy whisper in your ear. Then is Police Scanner from Da Sunlounge and is a real standout. Elsewhere if you like disco flavoured tunes try Phil Fuldner’s Bus Stop, which is a loose and freewheeling disco cut with colourful arps and tooting synths and globular bass. CJ Jeff lays down a playful and elastic house cut with cool vocals and Believe in the World gets more weird with alien sounds, squelchy perc and bleeping synths. Last but not least, Animal is a rugged opener coloured with wild synths, cymbal splashes and more acid stabs. Once again then Mother Knows Best.
