OLIVER SCHORIES – LARGO (SOSO)

For an on point take on house and techno you need look no further than the SOSO label. It is now onto its 42nd release and once again leads from the front with three fresh deep hose tracks that are truly compelling. They come from Oliver Schories, a well traveled german producer, with a fine remix from the ever reliable Florian Kruse.
Corso goes first and is a brilliantly loose house jam with jumbled percussion and lazy drums really lulling you into a groove. Loopy drums and weird piano chords flesh things out and trap you in a state of hypnosis as they ride up and down the scale. Largo then goes just as deep but is more melodic and widescreen, with a rueful sense of emotion and shuffling drums as well as some dark vocal helping to elevate the overall tune. The Florian Kruse remix is more broody and dark, with shadow spaces and spooky synth wobbling away under nervy chords. It is a great yin to the yang of the original and rounds out the EP in fine and evocative style.
