ONNO makes no nonsense techno. He has done for a while now on labels like VIVa, Saved and Moon Harbour and has become known for his rugged gangster sound. It takes him to super duper underground spaces like Sankeys and Panorama bar and these latest two missiles are just what the doctor ordered.
Elevate Men is a rock solid techno roller with heavy drums, icy hi hats and ghoulish sounding vocal samples that add a monstrous element to the groove. Next comes Freak Now, a less firmly rooted cut and one that is more freeform and fluid, with dubbed out chords and spitting hits making for a turbocharged vibe. Last but not least, Dutchman and Get Physical and Flashmob associate Wouter De Moor remixes this one into a spangled, heady fucking tune that has gloomy and gluey synths riding up and down as machine soul emanates form the core. Essential cuts for all the real heads, then.
