FREEZE FRAME
THE REAR
SLAVE

The influence of Chicken Lips can be found all around these days. In Germany some electro-house labels such as Get Physical or Systematic carry the torch for stoned funky synth-house (that fat eighties bass sound is everywhere). In Sheffield, Slave drops a very solid offering from label boss D. Ramirez and Leiam Sullivan (Max Linen/Mr Pink) by going back to the city’s cold wave roots. With its polished robodisco groove ‘The Rear’ is a bit of a secret weapon for being that bit more nervous and eventfully structured compared to a lot of similar productions (127 BPM). On the flip Peace Division’s Justin Drake takes the dirty, dubbed out route (123).
