Roosevelt – aka Cologne’s Marius Lauber – is a great addition to the Greco-Roman label. Essentially this is breezy electronic pop music, but it’s very nicely done and on occasion has a bit of a punch to it – plugging a Friendly-Fires sized gap in the singles market. The pop is bittersweet, and ‘Wait Up’, ‘Night Moves’, ‘Colours’ and ‘Fever’ are especially good, each a demonstration of how to fill a dance floor but create a bit of wistful reminiscence on the side. If you’re a fan of Hot Chip you’ll like this – not surprisingly, as Greco-Roman is of course part owned by Joe Goddard. While summer lasts, this will definitely do the business!
