SASHA – SCENE DELETE – LATE NIGHT TALES

A new direction for Sasha, but a wholly logical one when you consider the levels of ambience he has been able to achieve in some of his previous releases. ‘Scene Delete’ focusses wholly on that ability, and is effectively a ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation but with Sasha writing all the music. Because of that it has a natural ebb and flow, bringing beats and loops in and out over a spacious background. ‘Warewolf’ is especially good, with a soft but strong hook, while the snare drum on ‘Modcon’ has a sinister element, unexpectedly evoking a gun being loaded. ‘Time After Time’ shows an almost classical grasp of harmonic movement, and it is this blend of craft and pure ambience that proves a winning combination for Sasha. He is so experienced as a DJ that he knows exactly how to pace the intensity of his mixes, and that carries over to his production work. A really welcome diversion that is well deserving of your late night attention.
