South Beach Recycling ‘Beach Party Disco Vol 1’ (SFSB)

We really don’t have a clue who’s behind the South Beach Recycling moniker but we hear it could be some twins from the Bronx (of course) who are heavily into Disco and Hip Hop. So far, so good, but honestly that really is something we don’t care about on these pages. What we care about, is quality music and this vinyl only release is of the purest quality when it comes to correctly executed Disco Edits. I know Disco Edits in general have had better times thanks to a million ones NOT executed in a good way, but still you have to hail those who are able to transfer an often over 30 years old record into the here and now. South Beach Recycling is such an act, their previous offerings on prime imprints Midnight Riot have been rather promising, and this one, which also marks the first release on their very own SFSB label, is even better. What you get are edits of two records, that have enjoyed major popularity thanks to chart topping House tunes, that sampled them-Carol Williams’ Salsoul anthem ‘Love Is You’ and Thelma Houston’s ‘I’m Here Again’. I have heard edits of those two tracks before but I must say none of them come close to this-because of it rather being re-touches than re-edits which is a very clever way to give those two nuggets some more spins for the younger generations! Long live the Bronx!
