Acid Casuals follow their ‘Omni’ album by starting their own label in magnificent style. ‘Coced Pot’ is a malevolent prowler with samba underpants and strings straight off an early Nu Groove classic. This blending of that classic late 80s NY sound, acid house embellishment and modern mminimalistwhoopee hoists it above the pack. Then comes ‘Y Nyth’ – which means Nest – which again recalls classic NY house with a riff where Logic’s ‘The Warning’ springs to mind before its elevated by the surrounding firefly synths and a vibe harking back to the roots of techno. Again, modernised and made into their own. Great start.
