It’s not often that the producer credits the mastering engineer in the press blurb but maybe this is indicative of the care and and attention to detail Brendan seems to put into his finely=crafted chunks of sonic mischief. Last year’s ‘Jazz Space EP’ plopped itself in the major DJ boxes around the world and wouldn’t budge. This looks like doing the same as ‘N-Train’ kicks into low-slung, maraca-prodded deep techno heaven with shimmering chord-bursts before the title track washes a tick-tock rhythm with lush textures before ‘Changes’ alights in more shadowy realms. ‘Stinkin’ Thinkin” – not the Happy Mondays tune? – is a personal fave, sprinkling jazzy keyboards over a gauzy, jacking funk. Definitely one to watch.
