There’s no messing here as the under-rated US producer first encountered 15 years ago on Plus 8 offshoot Definitive roars in with a behemoth of a double-headed bass-propelled monster. ‘Lokjaw’ chugs and churns with severe bottom end action lashed with gloops and an escalating network of robo-chimp howls. Harks back to that time in the 90s when unadulterated groove mayhem was nothing to be ashamed of but underpinned by deceptively-complex percussive touches and effects. ‘Shadowtalk’ again harks back to the previous decade, this time with a Frankfurt-style offbeat hump and anvil clang before more ingredients join in to build an unstoppable floor-destroying groove beast, again battered and levitated by a barrage of effects. Another towering statement from one of the world’s greatest labels.
