Christian Smith
Beluga
Tronic

May sees Christian pluck two tracks off his wonderful Directors Cut album, standing alone to cause greater havoc while blessed with belting new remixes. ‘Beluga’ is a swirling, soaring, Detroit-flavoured pounder built around monstrous rifferama, remixed by the mighty Secret Cinema into a harder beast atop sinister Reese/Slam-style bass snakes with epic consequences.

‘I Wanna Step Away’ is a lengthy-intro’d, testicular builder, rising like a brontosaurus stiffie with relentless groove, Phuture-mangled vocals and nagging synth riff before Christian delivers one of his trademark devasting mega-drops. This time the remix goes to Mauro Picotto and Ricardo Ferri, who pump up the bass, strangle the vocal and take no prisoners. Christian also turns in a deeply cavernous Extended Dub with new riff and huge, fizzing drop [Unfortunately only digital].
