2008 has seen some incredible records and amazing new labels which really have raised the bar for dancefloor seduction on every kind of level from insidiously subtle to full-scale kek-detonating eruption. Dubfire’s Sci+Tec imprint manages to combine the two factors with his uncanny knack for picking winners for the formidable roster. For the 13th release he’s roped in no-one less than Smith and Selway, veteran masters of dancefloor carnage. I can’t possibly list these men’s achievements: suffice to say, they never fail to ignite and have thrown an absolute bomb in Dubfire’s lap. Built on a huge, clattering electro-sequence and plonky percussive drive, it swells like a bison’s boner into killer groove stretch before a black hole drop whose chaotic alien frequencies and the way they’re managed is proof alone of the duo’s rare talent. Also comes with a Big Room Dub [you can only imagine] and groin-scratchingly ravaged-percussion treatment from Oxer. Definitely one of the season’s roof-raisers.
