Kickin’ has been around since the early days of house and techno and now relaunches with some great takes on a couple of DJ Hell classics. ‘Sprung Aus Den Walken’ gets three: Brique Rouge’s David Duriez dishes out crisp tech-house with electro underpants and meaty riffs rising to a big drop, as well as a clanging dub. The same track sees London duo Pramface plumping for a malevolent and ravey butt-nudger with grunty acid squalls and crowd noise. Particularly interesting is the version of ‘Buttersaure’ by Ali Wells of the fantastic Perc Trax label. There’s a bit of a 90s style shuffle afoot but ultra-modern production tweaks. Very strong package.
