R.A.W. 21 was the label’s thunderous and very cheeky take on ‘World Destruction’ – John Lydon’s early 80s teamup with Afrika Bambaataa under the name Timezone. Here, Guy McAffer decides to remix himself, homing in on that massive riff and turning it into a huge, climactic anthem. The flip sees Guy in cahoots with K.N. and DJ Cydeboard. Vicious, metallic riffs replace the original while Lydon is mauled and mutated. Particularly effective is the bit where it drops to just acid and John. Crazed mayhem which I’m definitely sending on to its original instigator. I can’t see him not liking this veritably nuclear tribute.
