Tel Aviv’s Itamar has recently impressed on labels like Ovum and Soma, displaying a startlingly individual strain of attack of techno which gets his debut on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode off to a flying start. The title track rides a circular kick-tom percussion loop washed with dark atmospherics and unholy resonance before the malevolent shuffle of ‘Dirty Walker’ propelled by woodblock and buttock-pinching stab action. ‘Mr Bandi’ boasts some of the strongest drum programming to come along in a while and bizarrely scrambled ascending drop. All pretty ominous but the original Chicago masterworks always were.
