John Digweed & Nick Muir
Tangent
Bedrock

Out of the skies from nowhere lands this latest from John Digweed and Nick Muir’s on the currently-firing Bedrock and utterly blitzes everything in its path. As with all the best tunes the recipe is simple but utterly deadly: a motoring tech-groove which steams on, subtly gaining hypnotically-trouseresque steam with minimal effects and slurred alien syndrum moans before the whooshy suction noises start assembling, gaining volume and intensity until they’ve turned into a nuclear barrage of sirens fighting off a flying saucer attack. Six minutes in comes the drop, leaving the sirens and whooshy noises to turn into a mindblowing sonic sand- storm. This goes on for some time so no prizes for guessing the effect of the beat’s re-entry [it has to be said it reminds me of that bit in ‘Sugar Daddy’, which John always graciously championed all those years ago]. Whatever, it effortlessly raises the bar for dancefloor destruction and thinking about the possible effect in certain situations is quite frightening. If that wasn’t enough, Timo Maas then comes in, toughens the beats and tweaks up the noises over his own brand of kek-detonating whoopee.
