Follow-up to last year’s ‘Summit’ and trailering his upcoming debut album, Josh is obviously one to watch with an individual sound which manages to straddle classic electronic elements and contemporary production manoeuvres. After starting acid-twittery, there’s a delicious drop which sees some lovely strings waft in and a resounding peak attained as the goat at the top of the mountain bares his bottom and lets fly. Devotees of Derrick Carter’s late, lamented Classic label will be happy to see the remix being handled by Sweden’s inimitable Style of Eye who were even capable of out-weirding the weird in that compound but here they excel themselves, turning in something of a masterpiece: it starts gently resonant and minimal but when the strings come in it becomes a soaringly emotional tour-de-force which is quite breathtaking. Change that to TWO major talents to watch.
