Having recently fondled the top ten with his Freaks, Luke Solomon now lets the diabolical bulge in his trousers explode in a blast of satanic techno! His ‘Ghosts’ earlier this year was a relatively sedate affair compared to what has to be one of the most unashamedly fun tunes of the year destined to cause carnage over the festive season. It begins with ‘Return To Darkly’, where a contagious bassline rides under a juddering acid bassline which swells like Beelzebub’s rancid scrotum as the track progresses. This is topped with all manner of masturbatory alien squeals, even a burst of ‘Close Encounters’ before the noises get more violent building to a barrage of Martian flatulence from the bowels of Hell. Brennan Green’s remix is also a colossus, a starburst riot of rhythmic twists strangely bordering on the Latin at times [or is that the spell this bastard casts on my sensory functions?]. The warm acid magic of Luke’s original is thrown in for good measure plus ‘The Devil Is A Gentleman’, which exudes minimal bounce and sprightly mischief in its acid-flecked y-fronts. I’ve said it before but the Devil definitely does have the best tunes.
