Third release on Marco’s Minus-blessed imprint continues the masterful honing of dance music’s first basic ingredient, used to quite devastating effect on the previous monster ‘Bloody Cash’. The title cut intricately weaves various percussive elements from bongos to tin-can rattles but ebbing and flowing rather than an all-out barrage. The only constant is the bison’s bollock of a bassline, relentless and reliable in the shuffling under-carriage. His obsessive drum surgery approach is taken even further on ‘Drumming’ which, after building with edgy keyboard stabs holding the beat, audaciously drops to a drum solo – highly ambitious but pulled off massively. The kind of brave move which dance music used to thrive on and blows the roof off without fail. This is a great mission he’s on and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
