The UK tech-vet follows the well-received ‘Black Russian EP’ with a second bolt of electronic whoopee for 2020 which further demonstrates his knack for homaging techno’s past while forging fearlessly into the future and dropping in a distinctive hook in the process – here an Iggy-sounding bloke going ‘Baby’ and vocal refrain over the sparse groove. Built on a nagging keyboard riff the tune cooks up a lovely deep and soulful atmosphere on its way. Remixes come from Greece’s Mihalis Safras who runs the Material label and Berlin’s Two Em [Rotary Cocktail and Ornament]. Mihalis has reupholstered Mark before for Bpitch Control and here whips up funky static elastciated groove topped with a higher-register drone. The shimmering Two Em treatment dives into bottomless Basic Channel waters to round off a fearsome triple-header.
