MICHEL DE HEY VS GROOVEYARD
COMPOUND
EC

Rotterdam-based EC has been responsible for some belters over the years and Grooveyard are renowned for their tribal techno excursions. Floor damage expert Michel de Hey needs no introduction – another veteran but currently banging out classic after classic. ‘Compound’ was originally released in 2000 to much mania and now reappears with its intoxicating blend of Latin hustle percussion and Detroit riffage. The floor-hoisting original is joined by feisty new versions from Shinedoe [stripped and metallic], M.I.R.K.O. [Spartan Latin stab action] and Peter Horrevorts turning in a winner with Detroit flickering, thickening of the riff and dub effects creating a gorgeous atmosphere. A totally deserving reissue and a killer package to boot.
