It’s hard to keep up with the superlative stream of top quality tackle spurting from Soma’s loins at the moment, much by new names to the label. Mr Copy is young Michael Weldon who last year, at the age of 19, was one of the winners in the Beatport remix competition for Slam’s ‘We’re Not Here’ single. Soma only found out he was form Glasgow when they contacted him after he won. The man goes for the dancefloor jugular on the title track with a full-pelt, take-no-prisoners stormer splattered with bleeps, sci-fi raygun fire and a sound not unlike Sweep having a quick hand shandy behind Sooty’s back. If that wasn’t enough, the mighty Let’s Go Outside turns in a crashing peak-time riot of a remix, like one long soaring peak. The B side’s ‘Crysis’ yakes a little longer to make its point but, after establishing its minimal pulse momentum, gains steam and turns into a malevolent, gonad-strangling piledriver which does its damage on the lower levels. Fantastic debut!
