PACO OSUNA
CRAZY EP
PLUS 8

Minimal techno can be an austere beast as it plods and creaks through its own set of cliches. What’s great about the fuzz-bombs constantly raing out of the Plus *-Minus silo is how they never stop foraging for something new while, most importantly, keep dancefloor seduction and demolition uppermost. This has rarely been better illustrated by the latest EP from Spain’s Paco Osuna, which is simply great fun! The four tracks are built to raise the roof and send crowds into delirious overload. The title cut rides a nagging motor-pulse, a wondrous beast that crackles and clicks as the percussion interlocks and even that old standby the siren drop is given a new, devastating slant. The acid house energy crackling through ‘Alsound’ and ‘Joakhim’ ebbs and flows always with a new surprise around the next bendf. ‘Sechamps’ boasts the whip-crack snare of all time – deadly over the grunting bass-throb and under the agitating synth-twitters. Energised mayhem [but what else would you expect from Plus 8?].
