Monster tune alert! The original from Argentinian duo Juan Pablo Pfirter and Jonas Kopp is remarkable in creating that much damage with just a propulsive groove, metallic undulations and double-time booming noise which attains earthquake dimensions when fired through big speakers. It’s then modulated to sound like anything from a Martian firing squad to brontosaurus farting in the bath. It was enough to catch the ears of Paul Woolford who brought it in as his first A&R catch for 2020. The man’s been causing enough damage lately with his own releases but the Bobby Peru he turns in here is a ten-minute epic of syrup-whisking proportions as he adds cavernous new shark’s-arse riff, ejaculating guinea-pigs and other-worldly efx. Four minutes in it takes off on another trajectory altogether with new electro-pulses and grumbling 808 rumbles building up a head of steam until the whole shithouse goes up in flames when the early stuff reappears. Paul’s new album The Truth is in the sights. They’re just waiting for the armour-plated cod-pieces. This is enough to tell you he’s on serious form right now.
