Seth Troxler
Love Never Sleeps
Crosstown Rebels

One of the most stunning outings to hit this week comes from Detroit-born/Berlin-relocated wonder-kid Seth Troxler who’s landed in the dream position of creating a monstrous tune, seeing it benefit from two monumental remixes and coming out on Crosstown Rebels! The original is built on a simple female vocal loop which whips up similar effect to, say, Transform’s early 90s anthem of the same name. There’s a disco bloke counterpart and swelling synths, creating a delicious, hazy atmosphere. Then another Berlin-based maestro comes in with new keyboards harking back to classic early 90s NY house creating another magical outing. However, the real killer is Par Grindvik’s astounding epic which starts deep and skipping before appearing to enter a wind-tunnel midway, emerging in a totally different soundscape which provides a windswept backdrop for the vocal hook. Once the blizzard subsides and you think it’s all over the guy says ‘Here we go’ and he’s off again, forging into truly alien sonic territories where the shadowy beat will be swooping in for the kill on a big system. Monstrous record.
