The blurb which comes with Minus releases is the most evocative and accurate around. Here’s what they say about this debut twelve from Canadian duo Tractile, who already impressed on the min2MAX compilation: ‘If someone was asked what it would sound like if all the most frightening, most exciting and sexiest scenes in cinema history were spliced together and merged with a robotic dance score, Tractile would surely be the reply.’ Quite. There’s a lot going on all the way. The title track revisits the 90s minimal blueprint in an acid bath, adding modern grunts and noises. Before ‘Dynam’ splashes about with a seasick bassline, underwater acid and assorted twitters and chinks. ‘Stay Out’ boasts dub basslines and dark vocals before ‘To Go To’ closes as most immediate track with bleeps and nasty riffage. An exciting new take on this sound.
