UNWELT
GALVANIC VESTIBULAR STIMULATION
SATAMILE

Electro doesn’t have to mean retro-revisionism as Unwelt proves on this latest release for New York’s Satamile label. He refuses the siren call of software trickery in favour of getting real life machines to sing and dance in harmony, and he succeeds, cranking out grinding electro-funk that looks further than both Berlin and Detroit. What’s more, the tracks sidestep any obvious cliches, sounding current and incredibly vital.  “Don’t Trust Me”, “ESA”, and particularly “Secret Of A Black World” have the dancefloor angle pinned down, garnering plays and props from across the board, whereas titles like “Kiss In The Dark” and “Elysium Planum” provide slower, more enigmatic late night sounds.  Proper electro for the converted masses.
