As a very long follower of Danish prime label Music For Dreams and its head honcho, Kenneth Bager, I must say the year 2017 musically must be one of the best years for the label ever. Following on a massive release of the ‘The Swan & The Lake’ album, a rather fabulous compilation ‘Jockey Club Salinas Ibiza The Sunset Sessions Vol 5’ and various other respectable gems, now there comes the stunning new album from pianist and chill expert Troels Hammer. Expectations were high after his much acclaimed debut album Trans/For/Mation in 2015, and these expectations are fulfilled with joy by the new offering. What you get are eleven tracks you can’t stop listening to, tracks that grab you by the very first listen with their emotional, deep approach. Great instrumentations like the awesome sax driven ‘Letters From Uhuru’ match perfectly with ambient new age kinda style vocals on ‘Botswana Girl’ and Troels’ tremendous piano work that can best be visualised within tracks like ‘Serengeti Nights’ or ‘Thme From Ngong Hills’. As if that wasn’t enough already you get those classic sunset moments where you simply could drift away, on top of it. For proof check the key track of the album, that is ‘Mockingbird’. This offering really comes close to the classic Bliss albums released on the very same label, let’s hope for more top quality on here soon!
