This is the fifth of Eskimo’s colour collections, and it lives up to the same high standards of the first four from the Belgian label. Some of this stuff is wonderfully mellow, but the beats are always rock solid, and in the likes of Luxxury’s ‘Breathe’ and Zombies In Miami’s ‘El wild’ you get reliably good, deep music that soothes the soul but gets the dancing feet twitching. In that sense The Yellow Collection fills the ‘getting ready’ space perfectly, from the laid back groove of NTEIBINT feat. Rush Midnight in ‘By Your Side’ to ‘It’s Operational’, a cut from This Soft Machine with cosmic disco overtones, and the older sounding but quite acidic ‘Rise’ from Go March. With a dash of humour, a few quirks and grooves that are never less than classy, Eskimo tick all the boxes once again.
