This release is an absolute treasure trove, a collection of 45 reconstructions, edits, remixes and reworks from the mixing desk of I-Robots, aka Gianluca Pandullo. Over the ten years in focus here he has come up with colourful and brilliantly voiced interpretations of music by a huge range of artists, from A. Avenue to Yello and 9dw to Virgo Four. Among the many, many highlights are the cracking version of Danny Ocean’s ‘The Dark Passenger’, the shimmering, dancing textures of Demented Machine’s ‘The Mad Town’, full of electronic activity, and the stripped down groove of Emilie Nana’s ‘Like You’. It’s a very versatile mix too, moving between a madcap version of ‘Blue Monday’ (from Pernett ft. Lido Pimienta & Quantic) and the cool vibes of Ryoma Takemasa’s ‘Deep’n’ and 9dw’s ‘Right On’, a lovely deep house track. More highlights include Billy Bogus’ ‘Glamouflage’, an epic doused in organ, Klein & M.B.O.’s last call, a buzzing electro track with warm synths, and the nocturnal ‘Yellow Cab’ from Christoph. A couple of the cover versions included don’t quite hit the spot, but that is a very small blip on a fantastic set of dance music for lovers of electro-disco and house, shot through with Italian flair.
