Trainspotting – Chris Burns

The big tunes from the big players

Chris Burns – Legends [410 Paradox Underground]
I recorded the sample on my phone at a ball at the Paradox. When the MC came out with all guns firing in this ‘Legendary’ tirade. The track sort of wrote itself and inspired me to push for a heavy and dark ballroom influenced vibe.

Roxy – Love to Do It (Do It Dub) [Tribal America]
I’ve been getting deep into the Tribal America catalog recently and love the dark, twisted grooves like this one that permeate that catalog.

Mike Simonetti – Sweet As Honey [MIKE]
This was on a house bootlegs split 12″ that I recently did with Mike, who I collaborate with and engineer for his Italians Do It Better label. He flipped the original Babatunde Olatunji – Oyin Momo Ado into a stomper!

Andrea Oliva – Sitar [Cadenza]
This guy has been putting out some of my favorite tech house tracks recently and Sitar really sticks out amongst all the muzak being passed as dance music these days.

Chris Burns – We Get Deep [410 Paradox Underground]
I’m fortunate to play U Street Music Hall in DC quite frequently and the incredible ability of that system to translate the lower frequencies influenced how I wrote and mixed this track. Not for laptop listening!

Oscar G – Agua Bendita [Nervous]
When the weather’s warm and the deck is open, the hard-hitting latin stuff crushes the dancefloor at my Saturday night residency at Lost Society in DC. The swing on this one makes it a beast to mix but it’s great for switching up the vibe without losing the intensity.

Pirupa – Party Non Stop [Desolat]
Self-explanatory Hip-House Banger!

Quentin Harris ft. Lynn Lockamy – Torture (Q’s Alleviation Vocal Mix)
I’m always in awe how Quentin can find that right balance of knocking beats, tasteful vocals and quality songwriting.

Scandal – Just Let Me Dance (Maxxi Soundsystem Remix) [Nurvous]
Killlllerrrrr and classy take on an oldie but a goodie! The Nurvous boys really know how to pick ’em these days!

Arnold Jarvis – Take Some Time Out [Fourth Floor Records]
One of, if not my favorite all-time classic house record. I think traditional strong male vocals like this one are back on the rise (just look at the Storm Queen stuff!)

‘410 Paradox Underground Presents Chris Burns’ will be released on April 17th 2012 on 410 Paradox Underground Records (US)
