Trainspotting with Bontan

1. ‘C’est Moi’ – Bontan

I wouldn’t usually put my own record at the top but I’m super excited about this one. It’s coming out on Circus in January and Yousef played it at DC10 then signed it to the label after the reaction it received from the crowd.

2. ‘Scouse Afrika’ – Mele

Mele sent me this a couple of months ago and its been in every single one of my sets ever since. The drums are so good and the energy is special! It’s coming out on Eats Everything label ‘Edible’

3. ‘Vermona’ – Andrea Oliva

This has been doing the rounds all summer.  I love the groove on this record and the sirens add something a little different to a lot of records out there at the minute. Forthcoming on the Martinez Brothers label Cuttin Headz.

4.  ‘Come On Baby’ – Phil Weeks

I did my own edit of this record and I love the vocal on this. The drums are always slamming in a Phil Weeks record and this bass line is so infections. Anything on Robsoul is a winner.

5. ‘Fake’ – Jesse Perez

A relentless roller with some really cool vocal hits. Jesse Perez always gets the groove spot on and rolls it out throughout the whole track.

6. ‘Is It True – Riva Starr

The latest release on Moon Harbour. Solid groove in this one and the chord stabs really compliment – the whole track.

7. ‘Affair’ Bontan Remix – Sabb & Serge Devant

I wanted to make a record with a lead sound rolling with the bassline and this one was perfect for it as the vocals from Forest worked perfectly with a cool melody. Forthcoming on Circus in December.

8. ‘Backbeat’ – David Glass & Kinnerman

I heard this a couple of times over the summer. I don’t think its signed just yet but it’s such a solid record…wicked drums and the bassline rolls so nicely. David Glass always kills it.

9. ‘Show The Way’ – Steve Lawler

I love the drums in this – it’s really old sounding! Another stomper from Steve Lawler.

10. ‘Addicted’ – Aquarius Heaven

This was one of my biggest records at ADE and it went down so well. The vocal is really trippy in true Aquarius Heaven fashion. The drums are really cool also!
