Trainspotting with DJ Spen

The big tunes form the big hitters…

01.  Namy featuring Josh Milan “From now on” Dj Spen & N’Dings Gabe Remix
This track does it for me everywhere!!!! Just the right mix of killer vocals alongside a killer track

02.  Karizma “Nuffin Else”
Karizma puts his foot in this sure to be classic 90’s style sample track. Straight fire!

03.  Jack Son “Thrill Her”
A sick rendition of “Thriller” that is a dance floor magnet! Have been playing it in its original version since summer

04.  Tracy Hamlin “Drive Me Crazy” Dj Spen & Irvin Madden Phuture Of Da Phunk mix
My man Irvin Madden and I use “Give Me Your Love” as inspiration information for this track which features one of my favorite vocalist to work with

05. Dubesque “Cuidado”
One of my favorite tracks at the moment. Drives the floor completely crazy!

06. Gregory Porter “1960 What” (Gianni Junior Pushing Tempo Edit)
Another track I have been killing since I obtained it. Gianni simply takes Gregory’s original track and beefs it up to be playable at peak time for me

07. Rob Wu “How you do it”
FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY!!!! The only words to express this track

08. Erin Leah “Radio Billie Stereo Ella” Dj Spen & Gary Hudgins Jazzie Sensation mix
Featuring the vocals of Erin Leah & Sheila Ford (doing her Skatt Madness) this record creates dance floor magic at anytime!

09. Urban Soul “Until We Meet Again”  Sean McCabe Remix
Sean McCabe works his UK soul magic on this classic! He has a way of making retro and modern sounds work together like non one else

10. Typheni “Is It Love”
Neal Conway and I produced this record that is just making all kinds of noise in its demo stage. It has everything it needs to be a classic

Spen will be DJing with Karizma at The Date on Saturday 17th November. The Date has taken London by storm in 2012 with their first three parties featuring Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler and Timmi Regisford. Taking place every few months in one of London’s finest venues, Loft Studios in West London. The Date promised to bring world renowned DJs to London for each party and continue the manifesto with America’s most in demand house duo Spen+Karizma. They spin back to back for 4 hours in the amazing wood beamed loft in a killer Funktion 1 sound system (specially tuned for The Date by a certain Kerri Chandler). Spen + Karizma are house legends from their pioneering work in the early days of house as part of The Basement Boys through to their remix work for artists as big as Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys and Everything But The Girl. They have stayed firmly at the forefront of house music to this present day. Their back to back set is a must see as they work their four CDJ’s simultaneously bringing massive energy and DJ artistry to their four hour set upstairs in the loft. They are supported by The Date resident Stuart Patterson who will be warming up the loft in proper deep house style, before Baltimore’s finest take over. Also headling disco bears Horse Meat Disco host the ground floor as founders Jim Stanton and James Hillard drop four hours of pure disco heaven. Horse Meat Disco (fresh from stealing the show on Channel 4’s ill judged ‘club show’) are a London institution celebrating nine years of incredible Sundays in October.

“Saturday nights generally see the boys travelling the world whether it’s New York, Tokyo or Berlin… so it’s a real treat to have them host a room for us.” Stu Patterson.

Supporting Jim and James are The Dates’ Tim Keenoy and Faith’s Dave Jarvis.  Loft Studios also features a large covered courtyard where you’ll find 2bitpunk’s stunning visuals.

Advance tickets are a must as The Date always sells out! They are £15 plus booking fee from either ticketweb.co.uk or in person at Honest Jon’s on Portobello Rd.
