Trainspotting with Tyler Stone

Tyler Stone is resident producer at the legendary Chicago-based TRAX Records. TRAX released his artist album ‘Tales From The East Side’ last year and his skills as a DJ / producer have led him to residencies and guest DJ spots at many legendary parties in NYC including, The F Word, Vandam and On Top at The Standard Hotel.

The latest project to come of TRAX is a 14-track compilation curated by Tyler called ‘I NY’. It features some of NYC’s best underground house DJ / producers and aims aim to raise money for Youth Communication, a non-profit enterprise offering young people skills in media and journalism to steer them away from a life in gang culture.

To celebrate the release of the album which is out now, Tyler has put together a top 10 of tracks currently rocking New York’s underground scene.

 

1: Danny Dove – The Jam

EVERY time I drop this track I get at least two people asking me the name of this mix. It’s old school with some major punchy updated sounds.

 

2: Meditate – Dateless

This track’s bassline is super easy to ride on. You can mix literally anything into it and people will lose their shit.

3: AR – Recently

This song gets ALL the queens hyped that have ever heard of Sweet Pussy Pauline. This is downtown NYC at 3am.

 

4: Bruno Furlan, Kyle Watson – Marshmallows

Another hot bassy track off of Dirtybird Records. I’m a sucker for intricate bass and percussive patterns.

I love an updated remix of the catty bitch tracks of yesteryear. I could listen to Green Velvet all day.

 

7. The Carry Nation – As If

The Carry Nation have been burning down NYC dancefloors for the past couple of years. Their tracks feature complex percussion with soulful vox and complicated percussions. As If just recently made a big splash in NYC.

This fun track can be heard anywhere below 14th street after 2am. It’s fun and bitchy and the kids love it.
