Literatura – Desert Karavan EP (inc. Elfenberg remix) (connected)
Literatura debut on connected with a magical EP that features two evocative originals and a fine remix from enigmatic Swedish pair Elfenberg. Literatura is a mysterious duo made up of Kai Si and Al3ne who proclaim a mission to touch your inner world with their sounds. They have previously offered up compelling tracks on Go Deeva, Dear Deer White and My Other Side of the Moon and continue their fine run of form on connected. Their brilliantly intoxicating title track sets off on bending basslines and jaunty beats which wrestle acid synths and staccato vocal chops in a mystic jungle. Up top is an oasis of suspended strings and flutes that lightens the heart and captures your imagination. Elfenberg are familiar underground faces to those who know having made a mark on Oliver Koletzki’s Stil Vor Talent, as well as running their own Trampoliner label. Their fresh remix has polished sequencers, drones and reflected light that cut though a spartan minimal beat affair. The acid from the original remains and as the arpeggios swell and shrink, bass drops and vocals are all stitched into the dynamic groove. Last of all is the excellent ‘Night In The Oasis’ with its bouncing and echoing bass perfectly married to a driving groove. Rising synth chords, dub sonars and clanky percussion lead the way forward as a waterfall of deep bass strings and cascading toy piano notes fall down the face to bring a left of centre sense of funk to this tropical offering.
