A natural gift for a memorable vibe and a need to dance and make others dance marks out DJ/producer/musician Rashid Ajami’s music and sets, but just as he rejects music genres, his talents cross artistic boundaries to include a planned program of digital artworks, installations and cutting edge multi-media creations. Since his emergence was instantly spotted by the likes of Maya Jane Coles and Ramon Tapia whose remixes featured on his first release, Rashid has steadily released critically acclaimed tracks on labels such as Anjunadeep, Eklektish, Einmusika, Get Physical, Tale & Tone. He now adds Selador Recordings to his back catalog, releasing a stunning cut ‘The Lie’ with enigmatic emerging producer Dröm. He shares his favourite Back To Mine choices with DMC below…
Pachanga Boys – Time
This is one of my favourite songs of all time. It never fails to transport me to a different world, and it fills me with nostalgia. It’s the perfect record to contemplate life after a long night out!
Black Coffee – Muyè (Black Coffee And Nduduzo Makhathini Journey Mix)
The original version of Muyè is already unbelievable, but when I heard this journey mix, I fell in love. The piano is so beautiful. It truly is a journey.
The Blaze – Territory
The Blaze have this unique way of creating uplifting and emotive music. This is my favourite from all their tracks. It’s also worth mentioning that the music video is amazing.
Automagic ft Aswan – Do you feel (Automagic Main Mix)
This is such a classic house track. It’s chilled, funky and the groove is just right. What I love specifically about this track is the deep lyrics and vocals combined with the piano chords.
Lovebirds ft. Stee Downes – Want you in my soul (Original mix)
This is just an absolute must for me. One of my favourite tracks of all time.
Prince of Falls – Marlboro
I love hip hop and this one has so much vibe!
Marcus Worgull – Love Song (original mix)
Marcus Worgull delivers a sexy and fresh tune. Perfect for those late night/early morning vibes.
Elder Island – Feral (Letherette Remix)
When I first heard this track, it was on repeat. It has this urban chill late night vibe. It’s mellow and dreamy with that perfect amount of melancholic nostalgia.
Recondite – Dwell
Deep, Dark and Moody…
Max Ritcher – Path 3 (7676)
A perfect song to feel a deep sense of calm as the night comes to an end.
