Back To Mine With Cut Face

Exciting Toulouse-based electronic duo Cut Face, aka producer Body Hook and classically trained British vocalist Tacita Grace, is project fuelled by double espressos and late-night DIYobsession. Their sonic palette is a brutal yet atmospheric collision of garage, jungle, and darkwave channeling the raw breakbeats of The Prodigy,  the cold precision of New Order, and the visceral punk energy of IDLES. As their new single ‘Upgrade’ lands from their forthcoming ‘You’ll Never Get The Same Moment Twice’ EP, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Cut Face.

Body Hook:

DJ T-1000 – No Victims Only Volunteers
A dark dystopian city atmosphere that’s both musically touching and incredibly inspiring. Big up to Alan Oldham.

Nitepunk – Bound 80
Raw electric energy. Absolutely wild bassline.

Aux 88 – Voice Modulation

AUX 88 has always been a huge inspiration for me, and this track is the perfect definition of their sound.

Japanese Telecom – Virtual Origami
Like AUX 88, this track feels incredibly powerful despite having no heavy synths or drums. It’s honestly amazing.

The Prodigy – Jericho
Probably one of the most influential bands to me personally. Been playing these tracks constantly since I first discovered The Prodigy.

Tacita Grace:

Hercules and Love Affair – Blind Any minute of the day, this one makes me want to dance. It’s got the sense of “future nostalgia”, and a reminder to keep going, things will get better.

Idles – Beachland Ballroom
CRAWLER is amazing, it’s one of my favourite albums ever, but this track in particular gets me singing my lungs out.

Soft Cell – Tainted Love / Where Did Our Love Go
The perfect medley never gets old. Reminds me of my childhood, perhaps also because I remember the Pussycat Dolls version.

The Knife – Pass This On
One of my siblings sent me a mixtape for my 15th birthday, the sound of the steelpan gets me every time. Dan Sartain’s cover is cool too.

ABBA – Lay All Your Love On Me

Best karaoke song choice, it’s big, it’s emotional, it’s loud.

‘Upgrade’ is out now.
