Claptone emerged in 2012 with the hypnotic No Eyes, followed by hits like ‘Cream’, ‘Wrong’ and ‘Heartbeat’ that pushed him into global recognition. His sound blends house, deep house and tech house, with albums ‘Charmer’, ‘Fantast’ and ‘Closer’ showcasing his mix of soulful melodies and dance floor energy. Remixes for artists like Gregory Porter, Mark Ronson, Elton John and Dua Lipa expanded his reach, alongside his worldwide Masquerade events at venues like Pacha, Amnesia and currently at Chinois until the end of the season. With major festival appearances, awards, 275+ annual shows and his Golden Recordings label, Claptone remains a masked force shaping modern house music. As his new single, ‘Beautiful Times’ with Kurtis Wells & Miramar lands on Funkshway, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with the mighty Claptone.
Claptone ft. Kurtis Wells & Miramar – Beautiful Times – Funkshway
A real highlight in my sets all summer and fortunately my new single. I love the combination of the warm piano, that groovy bassline and Kurtis’ effortless vocal. It has this beautiful end-of-summer feeling while still really working at peak time. Makes you feel the beauty of life even if times might not be as beautiful.
Rooléh – Want To Know (Edit) – No Art
What a great organic House track. Love the samples it’s built around and the effortless groove throughout. Lots of fun playing this one out. Always gets the right reaction.
Claptone & The Mekanism ft. Jorge Bezerra – Doing The Disco – Exploited
This has been one of my secret weapons. The percussion from Jorge Bezerra, the bongos, hats and that disco loop create this irresistible groove that just keeps building. It’s simple, hypnotic and incredibly effective on the dancefloor
Dario Nunez & Les Castizos – This Is The Beat (Let’s Dance) – Golden Recordings
This one is just fun. Super direct, great groove and that vocal immediately gets into your head. This one works perfect on Ibiza and it is exactly the kind of record I like to drop when the room needs another push.
Busy P, Myd, Twinsmatic – Paris Worldwide – Ed Banger
Quirky, colorful and a little unexpected, with those classic French House vibes. Fell in love with this one straight away. I’ve been playing it out in my own Edit of this everywhere recently.
Amadeo Picone – In Love – Golden Recordings
Fresh out on my Golden Recordings label. I signed this because I immediately fell in love with the old-school Hip Hop vibe. Raw, fresh and infectious. Amadeo is on fire right now.
Albert Marzinotto & Davide Messina – It’s You – Till:AM
Such a crazy unique but at the same time incredibly effective house record. It’s a House headbanger full of soul. Right up my alley.
Claptone – Wanderlust (Crusy Remix) – Golden Path Recordings
Crusy took Wanderlust and turned it into a proper club weapon without losing what made the original special. The drums hit harder, the disco groove is more driving and Poppy’s vocal still sits beautifully on top. I’ve been playing this a lot over the summer and it always delivers.
Joshwa – Work Your Body – Catch & Release
This is pure dancefloor energy. The groove is relentless and it has exactly that raw, physical feeling I want from a record at the right moment of the night.
DJ PP – Aimer L’amour – Snatch!
I love the warmth and slightly nostalgic feeling of this slow jam. It has a beautiful groove and a super cool breakdown, just works without ever trying too hard.
‘Beautiful Times’ is out now on Funkshway.
