Latest offering from Ashley Beedle’s FCLR camp is a rather special one and shows some of the many faces the ex-X-Press 2 man is able to come up with. May it be a homage to the great Hip House records from the late 80s (Beatmasters, Bomb The Bass or Doug Lazy come to my mind) or may it just be a record that stands out from the masses-it is a really great one. You get four versions to choose from-the centre of the track being a Hip Hop vocal from LA based duo Bon Voyage. The vocal itself is already quite uplifting, but then the excellent production skills from Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris aka North Street kick in-and the heavenly journey begins. On their Rave Mixes (Vocal & Instrumental) the pair go for late 90s piano mayhem with an astonishing result. Give it a try-it really works and saying that I must admit the Instrumental is a very unique old skool rave track itself and may work with some acapella blended in, very well. On The ‘Funkay’ mixes however, we get some classic Beedle/Morris ingredients: an ultra funkee bass line, serious beats, classy string arrangements-everything it needs to be characterized as an outstanding modern Disco track-with a rap! This nugget is also out on vinyl and it is in fact very limited. Purchases are available via the FCLR’s Bandcamp site.
