Trainspotting with MuSol

MuSol (aka Paul Wiltshire) started his Dj career back in 1987 inspired by Soul, Disco, Funk, 80s Synth pop and the emergence of the Acid House movement. Throughout his career he has played alongside big names including Todd Terry, Hot Since 82, D Ramirez, Mike Mago, Flashmob, Marshall Jefferson, Jon Carter, Shades Of Rhythm over his 35 years in music. After establishing many successful club nights as a promoter, Paul started producing, and in 2006 created a remix for NYCs DJ Exacta, which was then licensed to the very first Ministry Of Sound Playboy Album. Subsequently Paul formed MuSol Recordings, which has grown into a hugely respect indie label, boasting a host of top 10 dance hits, with tracks being licensed to compilation albums such as Hed Kandi & Cafe Del Mar. As his new single with Woody, ‘All Of That’, drops on Big Speaker Music, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with MuSol.

1. Danny Tenaglia – The Brooklyn Gypsy – Nervous

Danny Tenaglia Plays "The Brooklyn Gypsy"

I was never a massive fan of Gypsy Woman [ SHOCK HORROR ], but the legend that is Danny Tenaglia has really gone to town on this huge 90’s anthem and totally changed the vibe with some sultry keys and clever trickery with the vocals. I absolutely love it!

2. Scott Diaz, Cathy Battistessa – The Ocean – Grand Plans

Scott Diaz, Cathy Battistessa - The Ocean [Official Audio]

This has been on my playlist since i first heard it and I have been hammering it even more over the last week by the pool whilst on my holiday in Greece. Such an amazing collaboration between two artists at the top of their game. Stripped back beats, lucious vocals and a simple key arrangement binds it all together. Simply sublime. Reminds me of the early Kaskade releases…one for the beach !!

3. MuSol & Woody – All Of That – Big Speaker Music

My first outing on Joe Ventura’s Big Speaker Music label features a cheeky 90’s classic piano house sample, and an unmissable vocal from Thelma Houston. Pitch that with a bassline that will shake you to your very core, we are hoping this will be a hit on the dancefloor !!

4. Groove Assassin – All My Life – Things May Change!

My dear old friend Nick never fails to miss an amazing hook in a track, and has pulled one out of the hat here with an infectious groove using a sample from a 70’s Disco groove. You’ll be itching to move to this!

5. Ten City – Suspicious [ Reelsoul Vocal ] – Fatsouls Records

Two of my favourite artists here, Ten City & Will Reelsoul serving up a slice of magic. One for the beach again with Will’s unmistakable beats, dreamy keys and pads, and not forgetting the unforgettable vocals of Byron Stingily – a match made in heaven !!!

6. Lovebirds, Stee Downes – Freedom [ Lovebirds Summer of 79 Mix ]  – Teardrop Recordings

Disco / Soul vibes from the Lovebirds and Stee Downes. Loving the simplicity of this track, hooky, infectious and definitely one to rock the floors early doors.

7. Dam Swindle – All I Want – Heist Recordings

Absolutely loving this track, 90’s style stabs with scatty vocals and a bassline to rock the floor. Add some cheeky sax and few noodly keyboard parts and you have yourself a hit… if only it was that easy !!

8. Frankie Feliciano, Terry Dexter – No Maybe [ Wez Whynt Vocal Remix ] – Ricanstruction Brand Ltd

I’ve been lucky enough to be asked for this top 10 whilst sat by the pool in Greece, and tracks like this just make me wanna get up and dance. Frankie & Terry with the help of Wez Whynt have produced an absolute slammer, which I’m sure will fire up the charts. Laid back and chilled to the core, with Terry’s unmistakable vocals are a sure fire hit.

9. Matt Caseli, Matt Lightbourn – To The Rescue – There Was Jack

Great use of a Bob Marley sample here, turning a reggae vocal into a dancefloor stomper ! Clever use of vocal sampling, a driving bassline and synth stabs which i’m sure will leave you wanting more. Big up your bad selves Matt & Matt!

10. Conan Liquid – Backbooster22 – Crates Motel Records

Conan coming up with a French Disco style filtered track, which hits all the buttons. He is not only a lovely person, but an exceptional producer, which shows here. This is another track in the bag from the Crates Motel.

‘All Of That’ will be released on August 12th 2022 on BIG Speaker Music.
