Snow Patrol line up for Versus Cancer

Snow Patrol are the latest act to be announced as playing this year’s Versus Cancer, Manchester’s biggest charity concert, which raises money for local cancer charities.

Having sold over 7 million albums worldwide, and fresh from the release of their Up To Now best of collection in November, the band will perform a unique set on the night featuring their best-loved songs and what promises to be a memorable collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Gary Lightbody, said of the announcement: ‘Versus Cancer is a fantastic charity and we’re delighted to be involved.’

Andy Rourke, Founder of the Charity said: ‘We’ve been in touch with the band over the last few years and we’re over the moon that they’ve come on board this year.  We’ve got more acts to be announced over the next couple of weeks from bands and musicians to world class DJs and comedians, so watch this space.’

Tickets are selling fast for the annual charity gig, at the MEN Arena on the 12th December. Famous for its one-off sets and collaborations, the lineup already includes Andy Rourke (The Smiths) & Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order).  Also performing a special set are Tim Booth, Jim Glennie and Larry Gott of Manchester’s legendary band James.

Money raised will again go towards helping cancer patients in the region, with Manchester’s Christie being one of the beneficiaries.

You can join Versus Cancer’ online line up alongside Snow Patrol and James by visiting versuscancer.org, registering and getting your special edition music badge.  You’ll be kept up to date on what’s happening with the gig, be entered into competitions and be helping the cause at the same time.
