One of the biggest voices on planet dance is calling all the lovers out there
Welcome back to DMCWORLD towers young lady, a quite stunning twelve months under your belt. 2012 couldn’t have gone better. Anyway, the photos of Justin Beiber’s new six pack was all over the papers at the weekend. How is the Bieber crush going?
“Ha ha. Well what can I say, he’s my guilty pleasure! Although I have moved onto One Direction…all of them.”
Your world tour moves out of the States soon, New Years Eve on Sydney Harbour Bridge sounds slightly glamorous…
“Only slightly. It is actually in Luna Park right next to the bridge but it’s still fabulous!”
Where else are you looking forward to perform in the coming months?
“I am off to Russia this weekend. Always love my Russian fans and FAMILY in Brisbane is always a favorite of mine.”
What are your ‘on tour essentials’ when you are on the road? Rihanna was interviewed on Radio 1 this morning, Nick Grimshaw asked her what was on her rider when performing at gigs – she replied “clean underwear” – what is on your rider these days?
“Mine is a bottle of Grey Goose. Is that bad?!”
Speaking of Rihanna, come on then, we hear you two are doing something together. Reveal all…
“Ah, the big reveal. I am writing tracks that are being considered for Rihanna. It’s all smokes and mirrors darling. I hope she takes one of my tracks, that would be UBER fabulous.”
You readily admitted that you wee’d yourself when you met Betty White and did high kicks around the kitchen when Kylie Minogue snapped up your ‘Cupid Boy’ for her album – what was your reaction when you met Rihanna?
“It’s yet to happen but I am sure it would involve changing my underwear after. Oh, does that sound dirty?”
Has there been a more glamorous moment in your life than Betty White feeding you cheesecake – has anything topped that yet?
“No that pretty much tops it. Surreal wasn’t it? All the time I’m thinking, Betty is feeding me cheesecake!”
So many tracks buzzing around with you right now. Tell us about the Akon tune…
“I love this track, I’m not sure where it’s destined to go but it is something I am very proud of.”
Another one swinging our way on Ministry of Sound in early 2013, what can you reveal about that little baby?
“‘You Be The Bass’. This is going to be my own release and not a featuring so I always get excited about that. I can reveal, it’s going to be a-mazing!”
2011 was your first ever Christmas in Los Angeles. What was that experience like? Turkey on the beach?
“No, we had a veggie fake turkey and all the trimmings at my home with my friends and the dogs. It was very special but I admit I do miss my family. My sister and my nephew are coming this year so I am extra excited about that.”
What do you hope Santa has left you in your stockings this year…?
“If I catch Santa going through my stockings I’m calling the cops!”
Your influences sit on booth sides of the fence. On one you have the wild side with people like Blondie and David Bowie and on the other Audrey Hepburn. Excess meets demure and elegance. Does that sum you up?
“That’s brilliant, I am a contradiction for sure so I think that sums me right up.”
You once admitted that your dream phone call would be Calvin Harris ringing you to talk about a collaboration. Has he called yet?
“No, the little tease. He will though. I am sure of it.”
Another great admission, that if anyone was going to play you in a film it would be Angelina Jolie. Would that be the crazy version who loved leather pants and bisexuality or the new plastic version?
“It would be the old one I think. I’m a bit dirtier than the new version. Always got ketchup down my sweater or something.”
You love a good dance act like Basement Jaxx, Outkast, Kanye West and Beyonce – but who are the artists away from dance that you are listening to at the moment?
“Well Christmas is coming, so right now I wake up and listen to the Christmas station on Pandora. I love all the classic ones!”
The start of the year saw you pulling your hair out putting Kleenex down all over your place trying to house train your new puppy Alfie. All sorted?
“Oh my god, she is the best dog in the world . She seemed to go from naughty to nice so quick. I never thought I could love a dog this much. It actually worries me!”
You have collaborated with many of today’s most respected DJs and producers including Tiesto, Wolfgang, Deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia to name but a few. Who was the most inspiring to work with?
“Ok, each one is so different and I get inspired by so many different things about them. I don’t have a favorite that I worked with though!”
What is your favourite release to date and why?
“The Tiesto and Wolfgang track stands out simply because I love the song so much. It makes me feel all toasty inside.”
What are the further release plans for 2013
“It’s going to be another busy year release wise. I plan to keep them coming and knocking you all out with them. xxxx”
