The Best Of 2012
The Tunes
That’s a tricky one. So many great artists made their cases. I’d have to say…
Candi Staton – Hallelujah Anyway – Larse Vocal Mix
Noir & Haze – Around – Solomun Remix
Liquideep – Feel It – Andre Lodeman Remix
The Festival
People have to understand we didn’t grow up with dance festivals like the UK. In 2012 we were bombarded with festivals popping up all over. My Answer: Movement Fest in Detroit. Nuff said.
The Club
Another toughie. My favourite events do not take place at clubs, but at concert halls, loft spaces, warehouses and secret locations. Either way it’s a toss-up between Black Market and Verboten. No they are not exactly clubs, but they produced the best events of the year as far as New York City
The Producer
I have to honestly say I’m most impressed with the whole afro-soul movement in South Africa. Black Coffee continues to grow and the quality of his music is significant to the talent coming out of the area. I just saw a video of his current single done live at a soccer stadium with 60,000 people and a live 30 piece classical orchestra. Sorry, but we still drink Coffee here
The Hero
Barack Obama! He gave us a form of healthcare, he boosted the economy, and with a 38% approval from single women he stopped us from getting exposed to ROM-NESIA
The Breakthrough Artist
For me there’s no such thing. With the music business crumbling, people had to get creative. Too much good music. Too much booze. I had the time of my life
The Prediction For 2013
Didn’t you hear? The world ends on Dec 21st. Same night as my birthday bash. I’ll get back to you after that. Cheers
