LA’s Good For You Records boss shares his current dancefloor bangers
Kenny Summit – The Dirty Lowdown (Good For You Records)
I’ve been playing this record for the past two months here in LA and get the same awesome crowd response every time. It’s a Boz Scaggs rework that I did a few months back and it just came out exclusively on Traxsource. Such a dope feel good track.
Kenny Summit & Director’s Cut Featuring Yasmeen – Loving You (Dave Mayer & Husky Dub) (Good For You Records)I
Dave and Husky knocked this remix out of the park. Such a fun take on my original. I know Frankie Knuckles & Eric Kupper are also very happy with the way the boys remixed this joint.
Scott K – No Time (Warf House Records)
I moved to Los Angeles about one year ago and the deciding factor in my move from NYC to Cali was a chance encounter with a DJ / promoter / producer named Scott K who throws the We Own The Night underground party. I showed up at his party at 4am and the place was rockin! A perfectly planned underground event in an old warehouse far off the beaten path with some of the best music I heard in a very long time. This track is a great example of why I love Scott’s music so much.
Kenny Summit – Without Your Love (Good For You Records)
A tribute to Alicia Myers that I produced some time ago that recently came out on Traxsource. This is another hands in the air, sing along track that works the old school heads into a frenzy. This joint has been a favorite and a top 10 track with a bunch of big name classic house DJs all summer long. Try playing this track without smiling…
J Paul Getto – Love Today (Z Records)
JPG is on fire, consistently putting out quality house records. I’m really excited to have some new tracks by J Paul coming out soon on GFY. Love Today is a great pick me up, feel good summer jam that has been in my crate for some time now. Very high quality productions on all JPG’s stuff.
Peyton & Director’s Cut – Beautiful (Hysteria)
Three of my favorite people come together on this uplifting house vocal. I booked Peyton to perform in NYC at a sunset rooftop event maybe 10 years ago and we’ve been friends ever since. Actually that same night is when Kupper and I first became friends. You can’t help but to fall in love with Peyton’s voice and energy when he is on the mic. He really pours everything into each vocal performance and this track is a testament to his range.
Daniel Dalzochio – The Look (Scott Wozniak Mix) (Dalzochio Music)
It is one thing to be recognized as a good musician and be praised by your peers, but it’s all together another level when other producers say “listen to those keys, it must be Scott Wozniak”. Everything Scott touches turns into something beautiful. He really laced this remix for Daniel Dalzochio. Just a perfect piece of music right there… and yes, JUST LISTEN TO THOSE KEYS, IT MUST BE SCOTT WOZNIAK.
Steve “Silk” Hurley Featuring Sharon Pass – The Word Is Love (S&S Records)
My buddy Steve really put it down with this release. A true legend, he not only inspires musically, he’s also one of the healthiest people I know and you can’t help but get caught up in his positivity when he is around. Every track in this package is worth playing, each with a different vibe, each perfect for a different kind of party. I use all the mixes.
Will Monotone – The Program (Formula Recs)
Way to rework one of my favorite underground spoken word joints of all time. I guess the vocal is more like a rant than spoken word. Either way this record is dope and has been working on the dance floor for the past few weeks. Nice dark feel to it.
Cupcakes – Boogie Down (Cupcakes)
Where the fuck did Cupcakes come from? Out of the blue this guy (or girl) has come out with like 5 straight records that I love. This KRS1 sampled track is really fresh and packs a lot of energy.
‘Loving You’ featuring Dave Mayer & Husky Remixes will be released on Traxsource promo August 19th / full release September 19th on Good For You Records.
