Crosstown Rebels are about to celebrate ten years of existence with the release of a compilation and show zero signs of dormancy while once again pushing at the boundaries with this from Pezzner & Amina. ‘Exit’ is an excellent production that rapidly draws you into its sense of suspense via slightly unnerving synths and pounding beats as co-producer and vocalist Amina adds her own distinctive voice into the mix, which you will either love or hate due to the daring Jazzy inflections. Next, ‘Pipes’ underlying crowd sound effects and exotic rhythms again set the scene for more jazzy instrumentation to feel funky and thought provoking. Hotflush Recordings, Scuba then ends with a remix of the title track that will instantly have you reaching for volume with layers of tension effortlessly building your expectations. This is a great remix that sees deep bass complimented by swirling sounds and vocals playing across an inspired arrangement which never fails but to captivate.
