‘Fake’ offers two angles that work. The original is bumpy electro-house, playable in big rooms and smaller clubs. It doesn’t do a hell of a lot and it’s nothing you haven’t heard before but it’s nicely put together. Despite a not very convincing male vocal (a white European dude on an electronic Prince tip), the sexy groove and repetitive b-line pump the floor effortlessly (127 BPM). The remix from Underwater’s Greg Churchill doesn’t sound as big but compensates by going a little darker and faster with gated vocals and an unusual breakdown (129).
