Guy Gerber has managed to make his second label Rumors almost as well known as his first, Supplemental Facts, in a very short space of time. Part of the reason is because he is doing events under the same banner all around the world and part of it is because of the great music he has served up on the first few EPs. Lake People has already remixed on the label once and now gets his own original EP.
Following releases on labels likes Permanent Vacation and Connaisseur, this new two track EP sure is a deep affair. Both tracks fit in with the DJ style of Guy Gerber – they are deep, slowly unfolding things with prog subtleties and arching narratives. ‘Night Drive’ is all misty ambiance, haunting sparseness and rubbery kicks. It really sets an insular mood and the harmonious bell sounds that trickle in add more layers of mystery. ‘No Turning Back’ is the other track and this one is a little more direct and driven. Still its warm and sparse, but the piano chords that ripple across its surface are a little more unsettled. Both tracks are sumptuously produced; though, and really strike a chord.
