EXPANSION

Incognito’s Jean-Paul Maunick has assembled an all-star soul select that includes Chaka Khan, Jocelyn Brown, Maxi Jazz, Omar, Don-E, Carleen Anderson, and even Steve Winwood, to raise support and hard cash for the Playing Alive Foundation. A charity established to organise major music events to benefit the victims of humanitarian disasters in the developing world; contributions from sales aiding the tsunami relief and those fighting for their lives in the Darfur region of Sudan. Charity records do seem to be ten-to-a-penny these days, and offer varying degrees of exposure and success (Amarillo anyone?) yet whilst their heart’s in the right place, few are really any good. Thankfully this ‘Harvest For The World’-inspiration oozes of soulful sophistication and real production and vocal prowess. Kudos to all involved.
