Ian Blevins – Next EP – (Keep It Zen Records)
Space Ibiza ‘We Love’ resident and a true musical all rounder, Ian Blevins delivers big with his ‘Next’ EP – a stunning, super jacked excursion into that thing we call underground house. ‘Next’ is a dark piano, vocal looped, open / close hi-hat mélange that will wind you up and spin you out like a push down spinning top. ‘Stabbatha’ jabs and stabs at the organ pads, kicks you in the nuts with the beats and clacks you round the earhole with the snares but you’ll enjoy the pain is pleasure aural violence. Add two remixes of ‘Next’ from Fritz Wentink (off kilter and wonkier than the house that jack built) and Nick Beringer (backroom bouncer with a sexy sub bass slide) for a right royal rave flush. It’s got more jack than Fleetwood Mac.
