Next up on the Quanticman label out of Romanian are Horatio & Sebastian Eric. Horatio’s releases have appeared on labels like Viva Music, Desolat, Circus and more, whilst his partner here Sebastian Eric runs the East Frantic label and is a resident DJ at Output in Birmingham. Together they conjure up some left of centre house, breaks and minimal fun that is designed to get you dancing. Closer East Frantic is the pick of the bunch for me – it’s a jostling, dusty old breakbeat tune with cool drums, loose groves and plenty of atmosphere. Elsewhere opener Jargon is similar, but with a slick electro current running through its bones. Woozy chords make it a curious, charming track whistle Alkhemia is much darker, more experimental and more reduced. Here weird tones and rolling snares create an unsettling vibe with prickly drums and perc driving it along. Then comes a Shoxy remix that is slinky and eatery light, like a Ricardo Villalobos record that works its way into your brain as well as your body. Great stuff, then.
